Buruj FC defeated Tradesafe Sports Football Club 1-0 in the Nationwide League ONE (NLO) on Sunday.
A second half goal from Adio Abidemi was enough to give the hosts a well deserved victory.
The fist half saw both sides miss a couple of chances. Thy created goalscoring opportunities but their efforts were always played wide.
At halftime, both sides were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
Hostilities resumed in the second half, with both teams making scintillating attacking moves.
Buruj were however dominant but remained wasteful in front of goal.
In bid to find the winning goal, both teams made some changes.
Tradesafe made their substitution, replacing four (4) of their players on the pitch.
Buruj FC also replaced Bakare Saliu with Qudus Adeshina.
The deadlock was broken in the second half of the game as Adio Abidemi maneuvered his way from the opposition to set up a 1v1 situation where he put the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
Tradesave tried to initiate a comeback but their moves didn’t materialize.
The game ended 1 – 0 in favour of Buruj Football Club.
Shittu Mujeeb was named the man of the match. He was exciting all through the game, initiating attacking moves from the defense line, made some good tackles also.
