According to ssimedia, the organizer of the tournament, Fidelis Ilechukwu, revealed that the notion behind the event was to unite the youths and also integrate the best legs into his Plateau United squad.

“This tournament is to unite the youths on the Plateau, keep them busy and to also see one or two of these young players that can be moved to Plateau United.”

Fidelis has a belief that youths can become strongholds for a football club. An example is Stephen Odey and Akani Elijah of MFM FC who he groomed to be club heroes during his days at the Lagos-based club.
