Two late strikes from Ugonna Samson and Ayodele Shina canceled Ahmed Yakub's 50th minute goal to dump the Warriors out of the competition.

Head Coach of Ottasolo FC has hailed his boys for their fighting spirit following the 2-1 victory over Nigeria Professional Football League side Abia Warriors in the Aiteo Cup.

Two late strikes from Ugonna Samson and Ayodele Shina canceled Ahmed Yakub’s 50th minute low strike to dump the Warriors out of the competition.

“My Boys respected Abia Warriors too much and as a result gave them room to dominate the midfield in the first half,” Oladunni told Ottasolo Media.

“We tried to correct the lapses during the break and it worked really well for us.

“Kudos to the players, after conceding the goal, they fought back with everything and got the two goals.”

The Warriors dominated proceedings all through the first half but failed to break as it ended in a stalemate before the break.

The NPFL side continued to dominate upon the commencement of the second half until the Umuahia based side finally got their deserved goal on 50th minute through Ahmed Yakub who powered home a low freekick from the edge of the box.

The Solo Boys trailed for 30 minutes until the gaffer of the side, Oladunni Oyekale introduced the two Super Subs, Ayodele Shina and Ugonna Samson which happened to be the beginning of the turning point.

The young striker made his impact felt immediately as he provided a clever assist for Ugonna Samson to gift the Lagosians the equalizer on 87th minute.

Energetic Ayodele Shina would later register his name on the scorer’s sheet with a pinpoint strike after he had rounded Abia Warriors goalie, Pius Ibrahim to give Ottasolo the important lead.

Abia Warriors poked and knocked but they were repelled by the resolute defense of Ottasolo as the game ended 2-1.

“Our attention has now been shifted to the next match. We must start our preparations immediately.

“No doubt a good game and maximum respect to Abia Warriors. They showed and proved that they are plying their trade in the country’s top flight league, he concluded.

Ottasolo FC will now proceed to the round of 32 to continue with their impressive debut in the competition.
