SGFC Athletics Football Club President Richard Opanuga has applauded the team’s effort at the recently completed Nigeria Nationwide Division One League.
With 21 points from 14 games, SGFC Athletics finished third in Group C1 behind FC Ebiedi and Gidado FC, who led the league.
Opanuga said that the team has made significant progress toward its objectives, Oyo Sports reports.
“SGFC Athletics has gone far with the scope of the team’s vision, we started well we finished third best on the table so far so good the vision is being accomplished we are doing well and we hope to come back stronger next season”, He told journalists.
The chairman also highlighted some of the club’s core values and vision and stated that their major goal is to take the boys off the street and make them stars to be reckoned with in the future.
“The vision is to take the boys out of the street and give them stars, they are meeting up the expectations each day because they want to move to the next level”,
He went on to buttress that one of the team’s weaknesses is the lack of sponsors which has hindered the club from reaching its desired level.
SGFC Athletics Football Club will once again take part in the NLO One following its failure to clinch a promotion ticket.
