France finished the group stage in second place with six points, three points behind toppers, Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Falconets have made a perfect progression to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica after defeating Canada 3-1 in their last group match.

FC Robo youngster, Esther Onyenezide scored a brace in the game while Chioma Olise came on to complete the Falconets’ third win of the Mundial.

The Chris Danjuma-led girls are now billed to face Group D runners-up, Netherlands in the quarterfinals on Sunday following their triumph over the Canadians.

In the other game in Group C, France was 1-0 winners over South Korea to advance to the round of eight.

Esther is currently the second top scorer of the tournament with three goals from two games.
