The 2022 Boniface Chilaka Osuagwu Football championship has commenced with eight teams jostling for the title.
The football tourney which is held in memory of late Chief Boniface Chilaka Osuagwu (BBC) is taking place in Omuku, Imo state.
The eight teams taking part in this tourney are communities from Omuku Onicha Ezinihite Mbaise Imo State.
Golden Hope International Organization are the sponsors of the memorial cup.
Speaking to newsmen, the President of Golden Hope International Foundation Organization, Chief Mrs Ngozi Mbaocha said the competition is in honour of BBC who cared for sports development in the community.
Ngozi stated that the SDGs, of which sports is one, are aligned with Golden Hope International Foundation, and she thanked her sponsors, including NHRC, FIdelity Bank, MANN Foundation, and Memose Car Hires, for sponsoring the competition at such short notice.
She pledged that the competition, which fulfilled her late father’s wish for the community’s youth, would be held annually.
