Champions FC, Ado Ekiti have won the 2022 Bet9ja Ekiti Football League after defeating EKSU Galacticos FC 2-1 in the final.
Champions FC scored two early goals through Abdullahi Olanrewaju and Mark Tyodo in the 26th and 28th minutes of the game, respectively, to lead 2-0 at the interval.
EKSU Galacticos FC came out stronger and more determined in the second half.
After Sikiru Oladipo was fouled in the box in the 53rd minute, they got their goal from the penalty spot.
Champions FC’s defense foiled the university students’ attempts to score one more goal. And by full-time, they were declared winners.
Following a scoreless normal period, Ekiti United FC Feeders defeated Ifaki United FC 5-4 on penalties in the losers’ final.
Champions FC, received a cash reward of five hundred thousand naira for their triumph; the first runners-up received three hundred thousand naira while the third best team were given the sum of two hundred thousand naira.
Former Unilorin Warriors star, Abdullahi Ridwan who began his career as a goalkeeper ended the tournament as the top goalscorer.
Ridwan scored nine goals in eleven league appearances.
The winners have also gotten Ekiti State’s sole ticket to the 2022/2023 NLO 3.
