The semi-final games of the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament will take place today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The Edo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons encounter will be played first before FC Robo and Delta Queens do battle at 4 pm.
Edo Queens advanced to the competition’s semifinals following its 4-0 victory over Heartland FC in the quarterfinals.
However, they will go up against a Nasarawa Queens team that is disciplined and well-organized and has consistently displayed superiority throughout the tourney.
Nasarawa advanced to the semifinals by defeating Naija Ratels 3-2.
FC Robo Queens easily advanced to the final four after defeating Confluence Queens with six goals. They will now take on Delta Queens, who defeated Royal Queens 2-1 to advance to the semifinals.
The competition, which has the theme “Say No to Drugs,” aims to increase awareness of the negative impacts of youth drug addiction.
The Besty Obaseki-sponsored tournament is now in its second year. This year’s edition commenced on September 7 and will run through September 17, 2022.
