After crushing Police Baretta 4-0 on Matchday 2 of the Nationwide League One Super 8 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, Madiba FC became the first side to win both games in a row.
The Lagos based teams were brilliant in the second half of the game, putting three past the Baretta team.
Abiodun Ayodele opened the scoring for Madiba in the 38th minute after benefiting from Mayowa Adeyemi’s cross.
It was a one-sided second half, with the Oshodi Boys in control when Izan Marcus scored an own goal to the dismay of the police team to make it 2-0.
Ten minutes later, after Marcus had put the ball in his net, Madiba was awarded a penalty and Marcus was given a red card for his unsportsmanlike behavior in the box.
Aliyu Solomon coolly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to make it three.
Fatai Oladimeji put the finishing touches on the victory for Madiba on the stroke of 90 minutes when he beat his marker and confidently hammered home the fourth goal.
Smart City defeated 10-man Mailantarki Care FC 2-1, picking up where they left off in the one-all draw with Kun Khalifa.
Mailantarki Care gained an early lead after Miko Dalha connected on a beautiful feed from Miracle Williams in the seventh minute.
The FCT-based squad was going to have to play the remainder of the first half without Abdulbasit Bayo after he received a second card for a reckless challenge.
Smart City made a comeback in the second half with goals from David Idezi and Akeem Wasiu to secure maximum points.
FC Ebedei defeated Kun Khalifa FC 2-1 to get their first victory.
In less than a minute of the contest, Ekpemadu Chijoke scored the fastest goal of the play-off to give Kun Khalifa the lead.
Kun Khalifa’s lead only lasted nine minutes until FC Ebedei’s lanky striker Isa Musa Abubakar scored the equalizing goal by taking advantage of a defensive blunder by Khalifa’s defender.
Odekunle Musliu’s spectacular strike gave the Oliseh Boys the lead in the 44th minute.
Inyere James delivered a great pass that Musliu took advantage of, and he finished the job by chipping the ball over Kun Khalifa’s goalie.
Aspire FC had a disappointing outing as they were the only team without a point in the tournament.
They lost once again to JNR Danburam of Katsina by a lone goal, eliminating them from the play-off.
Nura Tijani scored the only goal of this encounter from the penalty spot.
Wednesday is a rest day and action resumes on Thursday with exciting games that will decide the two teams that will advance to the play-off final.
