This year’s Principals Cup will kick off on Saturday 5th November 2022 in Lagos.
The event would feature at least six different sports including football, basketball, table tennis, handball, Volleyball, and athletics.
The tournament will be played on State, Zonal and National levels before overall champions would be determined in each sport at the finals in Abuja, BSNSPORTS reports.
The State finals will commence from 7th to 12th November 2022 while the Zonal commences on 15th November. Kola Daniel, the Media Assistance to Sports Minister, said, “the rebirth of Principals Cup is the brainchild of Hon. Minister, Sunday Dare. It is a tournament that had produced many international players for the national teams.
”The first edition took place in 2021 and the second edition will come up in November.
This edition will feature other sports like, Football Handball, Volleyball, Basketball, Table tennis and athletics. This is to expand the discovery of talents beyond Football.
”The second edition will take off from State level to zonal while the National finals take place in Abuja.
”The flag off of the National Principals Cup will take place in Lagos next week. The date for the commencement of the Second edition is made known by the Committee set up to take charge of the competition. This time, only secondary school students will participate. The Ministry has set up modalities to check participants and those that are not students would be disqualified.”
