The former Esperance of Tunisia forward arrived with the trophies and other individual awards meant for outstanding players at the tournament.

Former Super Eagles striker Julius Efosa Aghahowa arrived in Benin City on Friday morning to formally kick off the inaugural Julius Aghahowa Super Cup, which begins today.

The Eagle Wings Football complex in Benin City, Edo State, will host this contest.

The former Bendel Insurance FC striker was met at the airport in Benin City by Mr. Darlington Ogbeifun, the chairman of the organizing committee, who immediately took him to the game’s location.

When he got there, Aghahowa stated he was glad to be back at home and happy to repay the source he had come from in some small way.

“It’s good to be back home and to see my people again after so many years.”

“Beyond the little cash prize, this initiative is a test run to what is going to become bigger and have great stars emerge from. We are home now, let’s get things started.”
