Ikorodu City FC recently announced a partnership with five times UEFA Champions League winners, FC Barcelona and Atletic Sant Just Futbol Club (ATSJ) of Spain to stage the maiden edition of the Lagos City Cup.
The tournament will serve as an opportunity for players to be scouted by the club’s partners who will be visiting Nigeria’s business hub.
The Lagos City Cup 2023 is expected to have 16 clubs from Nigeria, including host club Ikorodu City FC.
Ikorodu City has in recent times established a relationship with both clubs through the transfer of players and intermediaries and this tournament will serve as a trial opportunity for players of the participating clubs to get scouted by FC Barcelona and Atletic Sant Just FC in the window.
The clubs will battle for a title and have their players get scouted to sign professional contracts in Spain.
The tournament will hold at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, between 1st to 4th July, 2023.
