Beyond Limits Football Academy Coach Olumide Ajibolade has downplayed expectations of his team being favorites to win the upcoming Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Despite their recent successes, including winning the Viareggio Youth Cup in Italy earlier in the year, TCC Cup and League, Ogun State FA Cup, and the Nigeria National League title, Ajibolade emphasised that his team will be comprised of new players and sees the tournament as a learning experience.

“We don’t consider ourselves a strong contender; we’re just going to learn,” he told Myleaguewire in an interview.

“Last year, we participated in the Gothia Cup with only half of our squad due to visa issues, but we still gained valuable lessons from the tournament.”

Ajibolade acknowledged that many of the players will be traveling outside of Nigeria for the first time and hopes that the tournament will provide a challenging and enjoyable experience for them.

“We are coming to this tournament, not with the boys that you know. These are boys who have been in the system, and for some of them it is their first time out of Nigeria. Why would we consider ourselves as a force?”

“Our approach is not centered on winning tournaments, we prioritise our process and let results follow naturally,” he said.
