Former Mavlon FC striker Salim Fago Lawal is poised to leave Croatian outfit NK Istra 1961 before the transfer window closes.
Despite his impressive performances and fan popularity, the club is reportedly willing to sell the 21-year-old Nigerian forward.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Lawal has attracted interest from European clubs, and NK Istra 1961 is open to negotiations.
The source stated, “It appears the club wants to sell Lawal this summer despite being loved by the fans.”
“The club seems to have received interest from some clubs in Europe and are willing to let him leave, he said.
He has featured in three out of five league matches this season. NK Istra 1961 currently sits sixth in the standings with two wins, one draw, and two losses.
Lawal played at the FIFA World Cup last year, where he represented Nigeria’s U20 Flying Eagles, helping the team advance from a challenging group featuring Brazil, Italy, and the Dominican Republic.
The striker attracted much attention during the FIFA U20 World Cup for his crucial role in Nigeria’s journey to the quarterfinals.
