Loft Skill Academy’s Gaye Wilmot, 13, was named the most valuable player and best midfielder at the recently concluded Sport League Championship.  

The Liberian youngster was exceptional throughout the tournament, earning him three Man of the Match awards out of six games and scoring five goals.

Wilmot’s creativity on the field was evident as he created 15 chances, contributing to his team’s impressive tally of 30 goals. For his achievements, he received a prize package including 200,000, a Water dispenser, a Hisense TV, and a fan, along with an additional 150,000 from the sponsors.

Despite losing their first group stage match to Miracle FA 4-1, Loft Skill FA made a strong comeback, advancing past the group stage. They defeated the host team, Seamoriow Sport Academy, in the quarterfinals but were ultimately knocked out by B United in the semi final.

Loft Skill claimed the second runner-up price after defeating Bright Future Stars 10-1, earning a prize of 250,000. 

The Ikorodu-based academy set a record with the most goal scored in a match following their 10-1 victory over Bright Future in the third-place match. 

Miracle FA came closest with 20 goals. Remarkably, seven different players contributed to Loft Skill FA’s 30 goals throughout the tournament.

In another development, Adekunle Olashile of Loft Skill was the top scorer with 13 goals across five games.

He outperformed Kingsley Nwadimkpa of Bright Future, who scored 9 goals. ‘Shile’ made history by being the first player to score six goals in a single game, achieving this feat against Bright Future in the third-place match. 

For his outstanding performance, Shile received a prize of 150,000, an additional 100,000 for his education, a standing fan, a gas cooker, and several other prizes. He also recorded the highest number of free kicks in the tournament, with six to his name.

Adigun Wajuid won the Golden Gloves award following his exceptional performances, including his commanding presence in the box and precise distributions, stood out.

Adigun, who had previously been a player but took on the role of goalkeeper for B United due to age restrictions, was awarded a prize of 150,000 and three standing fans from the sponsors.
