The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has successfully concluded a two-week training program for the National U15 Boys, also known as the Future Eagles, in Abuja.

This initiative is part of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS), aimed at creating a sustainable legacy for long-term talent development in Nigeria.

According to Nasiru Jibril, Head of TDS delegation and former Nigeria international, the program provides a platform for children aged 12-15 to showcase their talents and get discovered.

“The TDS project aims to raise national-team football standards globally, and Nigeria is benefiting from this initiative,” Jibril said.

Jibril emphasised the program’s importance, citing the upcoming annual U17 AFCON tournament starting in 2025.

“Without programs like this, countries may struggle to assemble top talent. We’re identifying and developing young players to supply our senior national teams.”

Meanwhile, Future Eagles Head Coach Patrick Bassey echoed Jibril’s sentiments, highlighting the transparent recruitment process based on merit.

“Every selected player has demonstrated talent, skill, and commitment. These players will be invaluable to Nigeria’s football future.”
