Mavlon Football Club has departed Nigeria for Croatia to participate in the prestigious Olea Cup U17 tournament, scheduled to take place from October 7-11, 2024.

The Abuja-based academy left the shores of the country on Monday and will be making stops for a tour before heading to Croatia.

Malon FC, renowned for its international tournament appearances, is committed to providing its youngsters with valuable global exposure.

The club’s recent outing saw them narrowly lose to Centre National Brazzaville in the semi-finals of the 2024 Viareggio Cup in Italy.

Nigeria U17 captain Cletus Simon (Dada) will lead the team in Croatia. The 16-year-old midfielder will showcase his talents on the international stage once again.

Mavlon FC will face stiff competition from top Croatian professional sides, including HNK Rijeka, Dinamo Zagreb, Osijek, Red Star Belgrade among others.

The tournament is organised in cooperation with the Football Club of Novalja, under the patronage of the Croatian Football Association, the City of Novalja, and the Tourist Board of the City of Novalja.

“Mavlon FC’s participation in the Olea Cup demonstrates our dedication to developing young Nigerian talents through international competition,” said the club.
