Shola Adegun has been confirmed as the head coach of Sporting Lagos Football Club.
The Lagos-based second division side said in a statement that Adegun has been promoted to the senior team confirming the rumour of his appointment.
Adegun’s promotion follows his successful tenure leading the U17 team, which won its first international trophy at the Gothia Cup in Sweden and reached the finals of the TCC Cup, where they finished as runners-up to Beyond Limits FA.
“Shola Adegun, who led our academy team to incredible success, has been promoted to head coach of our senior team!”
“With his proven track record, we can’t wait to see him lead us to greater heights.”
Sporting further confirmed that he will be assisted by Buter Bem for first team duties, while Coach Caleb will oversee day-to-day operations at the Academy under Coach Shola’s continued leadership.
Adegun takes over from Abdullahi Biffo who was the named head coach following the sacking of Paul Offor due to poor results.
