Unilorin Warriors qualified ahead the former champions, and they will play Abubakar Tafawa Balawa University, Bauchi in a single-leg quarterfinal in Minna.

Ogungbenro Mustapha put up a show as Unilorin Warriors defeated University of Agriculture, Makurdi 3-2 overall to advance in the 2022 Higher Institution Football League (HiFL).

The only goal of the first leg was scored by Ogungbenro Mustapha, popularly addressed k as Zico, in Makurdi, making the Warriors the first team to overcome the inaugural champions in their home turf.

John Aogo scored the first goal after taking advantage of a defensive blunder, to put UAM Tillers back on level terms as early as the 15th minute.

The Unilorin Warriors came out swinging, with the trio of Fashanu, Ogungbenro, and Godwin getting multiple opportunities to convert but failing to do so.

Amodu Unite’s close-range strike in the 38th minute sent the visitors into raptures as UAM scored their second goal against the flow of play.

Jamiu Mujeeb scored from 12 yards after the referee saw a foul in the UAM Tillars penalty area and pointed to the spot just before halftime as the Warriors put everything on the line shortly after conceding the second goal.

After the game resumed, the Warriors took control of play. Soon after, Igoh Godwin and Michael Fashanu exchanged passes before the latter sent in a cross, which Ogungbenro Mustapha headed in to tie the scores and give the Warriors the lead for the first time in the game.

The warriors were difficult for the Tillers to contain as Ogungbenro Mustapha struck the crossbar with a shot from a distance of many yards and Fashanu missed a chance just before the final whistle.
