Norwegian first division club, Valerenga has announced the signing of Onyebuchi Obasi from Beyond Limits FA.
The 18-year-old forward caught the eyes of scouts, the club said in a statement.
Obasi arrived at training camp in Marbella on Sunday morning to begin his career with the Oslo-based side.
Valerenga Sporting Director Joacim Jonsson said in the official statement that Obasi’s style of play can be likened to one of their ex-player Chidera Ejuke, who’s also a Nigerian.
“If I were to compare Obasi with a player who has been at the club before, I would say Chidera Ejuke,” he said.
“They are quite similar in player type, but Obasi is probably a bit further along than Chiddi was at the same age. He is a great talent, but we cannot expect him to come here and deliver from day 1. He can of course do it already this year, but it can also take one or two years.”
“This is a player we will help develop, and who we can hopefully enjoy for a long time. We have followed him for a long time, and are looking forward to seeing what he can achieve in the royal blue suit,” Jonsson said.
Beyond Limits FA have also confirmed the player’s departure in an official statement released on X.
Valerenga were relegated from the top flight after finishing 14th place out of 16 teams in the 2023 season.
