The 17-year-old Undergraduate Student of UNIZIK is currently a Grade 2 Referee and would be due for promotion to Grade 1 in 2023.

A new record has been set in Anambra state, as a 17-year-old Somto Ndubuisi officiated a football game.

The teenager officiated two matches at the ongoing Igwe Nanka YSFON U-17 Cup 2022.

In the history of Anambra YSFON, no teenager has ever emerged as a center referee. 

The teenage sensation’s road to history started when he was named as the  Assistant Referee 2 in the first semi-finals match between Ozalla FC V Aguata Grassroots FC.

The memorable moment eventually came in the second semifinals which involved Hopeland FC Nnewi and Super Stars FC Onitsha, as he was given the mantle of officiating as the center referee.

Somto is a 200-level student of Applied Microbiology and Brewery in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (UNIZIK).
