Smart City FC have departed Lagos for their international tour to be held in Morocco.
The Nigerian National League newbies will be camped in Casablanca where they will play top Moroccan football clubs.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu boys recently gained promotion to the second tier of league football in Nigeria, having scale through the hurdles of the NLO.
The president of the club, Adeyinka Adegboyega lead the 36 men delegation to the Maghreb nation.
He however gave thanks to God and all those who have been supporting the club since its inception.
“We give thanks to the almighty God, for this kind of opportunity given to the boys again. I’ll give you a special thanks to excellency the governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwó Olú, to our celebrated Monarch Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi (Kuninla III), to Seyi Tinubu, my own brother who has been doing well for the club.
“And to all stakeholders in the state, the Sports Commission, the commissioner for Youth and Social Development. They’ve really supported the club. Also to my friends and fans of the club, without them we can’t get to where we are today “. He told Lagos TV
While looking forward to a wonderful experience in Casablanca, Adegboyega stated that the main aim of the outing is to showcase the players and expose them to the International scene.
Smart City are a household name in Nigerian football. They’ve made back to back Lagos FA Cup finals and holds the record of being the only football Academy to make the quarter final of the Aetio Cup.
