Ughelli Rovers has been officially launched amidst preparations for the 2024 Nigeria Nationwide League One campaign.
The club confirmed it will be playing in the country’s third division while also announcing Mobile Phone and electronics company, Itel as headline sponsor.
The club will play its home matches inside the 5,000 capacity Ughelli Township Stadium built in 2002.
Founder of the club, Oke Umurhohwo extended gratitude to the descendants of Ughelli, for their immense support and adopting the team as a unifying force for the people from the region.
The goal is to make Ughelli Rovers FC a cherished institution in Delta State, representing the community’s footballing aspirations and a source of pride for its indigenes and residents.
During the launch, the King of the Great Ughelli Kingdom, HRM Dr Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III was presented with his grand patron certificate, which makes the throne of Ughelli Kingdom a part owner of Ughelli Rovers Football Club.
Ughelli is a town in Delta State, Nigeria, and one of the 24 kingdoms that make up the Urhobo Nation. The city is an industrial and agricultural spot of Delta State.
Recall that the club announced popular Radio presenter Olawale Adigun, who as Sports Director on March 15, 2024.
