Nigeria National League side Calabar Rovers will now play their league matches in Eket, Akwa-Ibom following a sanction by the league body.
The league organisers said Rovers were banished for failing to provide adequate security in the match against Ekiti United.
Rovers were banished and asked to pay a fine of N1,000,000 while the away team Ekiti United was fined N500,000 for abandoning the game.
A statement signed by the Chief Operating Officer Dr Ayo Adulrahaman read: “For breach of security, assault and encroachment, Rovers FC is hereby fined the sum of N1,000,000 in consonance with article 16.2 of the rules framework. That Rovers FC must produce the person that assaulted the Ekiti Utd FC goalkeeper, and (or) produce evidence of prosecution.”
NNL also said Rovers FC must produce the person who assaulted the Ekiti United FC goalkeeper or produce evidence of the prosecution.
Both teams have now been asked to conclude the match at the neutral venue in Eket, stepping down of the referee and match commissioner who handled the match for doing a poor job.
The NNL in another verdict fined Coal City FC N1,000,000 (One Million Naira )for not showing up with the club licenses in the game against Stormers FC of Abeokuta.
The Enugu-based side before the game claimed they forgot their licenses in Enugu while also claiming not to have the soft copies of the licenses.
Stormers who eventually won the match by a lone goal following the protest.
