The Nigeria National League (NNL) board has confirmed Enugu as the host of this year’s Super eight tournament scheduled for May 23-30, 2024.

Chairman of the League body, Mr. George Aluoe expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and Commissioner for Youths and Sports Barr. Lloyd Ekwerenmadu for agreeing to host the championship.

The state government has assured that all necessary logistics for a successful event will be in place before the competition begins.

‘I am pleased to announce that the Enugu State Government has generously agreed to bring the Super 8 to the heart of Nigerian football,’ said Mr. Aluo.

‘We, at the NNL, appreciate the Governor and the Commissioner of Sports of Enugu State for this gesture, and we assure all participating teams that they will receive top-level treatment.’

The Super 8 is organised annually at the end of the league to determine the overall champion of the second-tier league, as well as the teams that will gain promotion to the elite league.

Some of the teams that have already qualified for the championship are Nasarawa Utd, Sporting Supreme, Sokoto United, Madiba FC, Ikorodu City, and Nasarawa Utd.
