Tuesday’s IKDFA Super League Group A encounter between 89 FC and Olusosun Utd at the Olusosun Primary School Field saw the latter post its largest win margin ever with a 6-0 thrashing of the former.
89 FC went all-out for the maximum 3 points knowing that a victory would solidify their fifth-place standing in the league. In a 0-0 draw with Atlas FC, 89FC had dropped just 2 points in their previous 4 games. They maintained this strong form by thrashing Olusosun Utd at home.
By scoring in the first minute and going up 4-0 at the interval, they made their intentions clear. In the second half, 89 continued where they left off by scoring 2 more goals to bring their total to 6 and secure the three points at stake.
The two clubs had drawn 2-2 in the first leg, but they proved it was an anomaly.
Babawande Segun scored twice while Badejo Paul, Asafa Abeeb, Idowu Victor and goalie Ruke Komon all got a goal each to give the 89FC players a successful day in office and a happy conclusion to their league campaign.
The team’s coach, Alimi Oke, was overjoyed with accolades for them for overcoming hardship to triumph in one of the league’s tough grounds.
