UNNICH Sports Club of Aba graduate, Flourish Sabastine scored that helped Nigeria beat France 1-0 at the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
The 17-year-old continued with the scoring form she carried over from the qualifiers where she finished top scorer in the qualifiers.
The Falconets started like a house on fire and were a match for the star-studded French side.
Following the first twenty minutes of play, the match was suspended due to a heavy downpour but play resumed an hour later.
France got a goal courtesy of a strike from Jade Nassi but VAR canceled it before the Chris Danjuma-led women grabbed the winner late in the 85th minute through Flourish Sabastine.
Nigeria will face South Korea on Sunday, August 14 before their next group game against Canada.
